Bukayo Saka: NFF pulling all stops to ensure Arsenal youngster represents Super Eagles

After losing Chelsea duo Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori to England; the Nigerian Football Federation is not ready to lose another promising talent in Arsenal’s newest gem, Bukayo Saka, to the Three Lions.

Bukayo Saka, 18, has been a revelation after he was promoted to the first team this season by former Arsenal manager, Unai Emery.

NFF general secretary Ibrahim Sanusi revealed that the federation was stepping up the pursuit of Saka.

Sanusi further stated that the NFF’s President Amaju Pinnick was working on luring the forward to play for the Super Eagles.

Pinnick is working assiduously to make sure he brings Bukayo Saka to play for Nigeria.

“Yes, he’s played for the England under-aged teams but there’re ways to sort out his eligibility. It can’t be an impediment to getting him to play for us.”

Meanwhile, Bukayo Saka continued his fine form as he grabbed an assist in Arsenal’s 3-2 win over Everton at the Emirates on Sunday, February 23.

The win means Arsenal remains unbeaten in 2020 and gives them back-to-back league victories; for the first time since the opening two matches of the campaign.

Should Manchester City’s Champions League ban be upheld; eighth place in the Premier League could be enough to qualify for the Europa League; and the top five could be good enough for Europe’s premier club competition.

The Gunners are now just two points off Wolves in eighth and four points behind fifth-placed Manchester United.
