Hollywood actress, Lupita Nyongo’o was in Lagos, Nigeria where she met with writer, Chimamanda Adichie for the production of the screen adaption Americannah.
Americannah is a bestselling novel written by Nigerian writer and activist, Chimamanda Adichie. In 2019, it was announced that Lupita will be playing the lead role for the new project.
On Saturday, February 22, Lupita was hosted to a private event by the author with the aim of introducing Lupita to friends, family and members of the Nigerian creative community.

The private reception hosted in honour of Lupita Nyong’o, was attended by some Nigerian celebrities which include D’banj, Dakore and a host of other celebrities.
This is coming ahead of the screening of Americanah, an upcoming drama miniseries by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Lupita Nyong’o featured in the 10-episode HBO series that will be directed by Danai Gurira.
The 10-episode series will star Lupita Nyong’o, Zackary Momoh, Uzo Aduba and Corey Hawkins; while Danai Gurira will serve as showrunner, and writer, Chinonye Chukwu will direct the first two episodes.
Americanah is a novel by the Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, for which Adichie won the 2013 National Book Critics Circle Fiction award.
It has been a passion project for Nyong’o, the Kenyan-born Oscar winner who optioned the rights in 2014 after falling in love with the novel.
Lupita, daughter of a Kenyan politician, was born in Mexico City, where her father was teaching at the time. However, she was raised in Kenya from the age of one.
